My Disneyland Favorites

I go to Disneyland at least a couple times a year. It's safe to say that I've been to Disneyland during every season. From parades and special shows, to themed decor and rides, each season has something wonderful to offer.

Disneyland California

Here's a quick summary of what you can expect each season.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Winter - Disney is transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland. The Haunted Mansion turns into The Nightmare Before Christmas. There's even "snow" during the night time fireworks show.

Spring - It's regular season

Summer - Longer park hours and bigger crowds

Fall - Disneyland is decorated it's autumn decor. The Haunted Mansion turns into The Nightmare Before Christmas. Space Mountain becomes a ghastly adventure.

Regardless of the season, it's safe to assume that weekends will be extra crowded so if you can, you should go on a weekday. However, if you go during the Fall, you should know that there are no evening firework shows Monday-Thursday.

Dining

If you want to dine at a fancy sit down place, I highly recommend making reservations. A majority of restaurants serve American food, with the exception of Rancho del Zocalo which serves American Mexican cuisine.

One of my best dining experiences was lunch at Blue Bayou. It's that charming restaurant you float by during the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The premise behind the Blue Bayou is that you're dining in the backyard of a southern mansion, over looking the bayou. If you look up to the sky, you'll find a shooting star every 5 seconds. We ate here for my hubby's birthday and it was so romantic! The food was good but, the ambience was better. If you'd like to eat here, reserve well in advance, 3-4 weeks in advance is your best bet.

The Blue Bayou

Another restaurant I enjoy is the Carnation Cafe on main street. I ordered the turkey sandwich when I was there last, and it was incredible. This one is easier to book a reservation for. I would recommend booking it about a week or more in advance.

If you're looking for a quick snack, I suggest getting a churro from on of many food carts at Disneyland. Sometimes, these churros are themed. I've had a light saber one, a rose-gold one, and most recently, a Maleficent one.

Rides

My favorite rides at Disneyland are: Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain Railroad, and The Haunted Mansion. I make sure that I get on these rides during every visit!

The Tea Cups

When you first get into Disneyland, I highly recommend getting a fast pass for either Indiana Jones or Space Mountain. Then, heading straight to The Haunted Mansion ride while the line is still short. As the day goes on the wait time for these rides can be anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

Space Mountain turned into Ghost Galaxy for Halloween

If you want to go on Splash Mountain with barely any line, wait until it gets dark and you can ride it as many times as you like. Also, if you'd like to get on the rides in Fantasyland, I'd recommend waiting until later in the evening when all the kids and families have left and the wait times are anywhere from 5-20 minutes.

Splash Mountain

Another of my favorite rides is "It's A Small World." It's a slow boat ride that takes you all around the world and introduces you to the people of the world. Since this is a popular ride, I recommend getting a fast pass for it. Ask any team member working at the ride about where to get your fast pass. You can usually get a fast pass and use it right away. Instead of waiting in line for 30+, you'll be ready to ride in 5 minutes or less.
